1. Who we are

Altitude Academy is a mentorship practice operated by Al Travaglini, based in North Lake Tahoe, California. We offer online mentorship cohorts (Summit to Self), in-person outdoor experiences (Ascents), and private coaching. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you visit our website, contact us, enroll in a program, or otherwise interact with our services.

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at info@altitude-academy.com.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us directly

When you contact us, apply to a cohort, or register for an Ascent, we collect:

  • Name and email address
  • Phone number
  • Billing address (for program payments)
  • The content of your messages to us
  • Any information you voluntarily share about your goals, health, background, or circumstances relevant to program participation

2.2 Payment information

We use Stripe to process all payments. When you pay for a program, your payment card details are entered directly into Stripe's secure, PCI-compliant checkout. Altitude Academy never sees, stores, or has access to your full card number or CVC. We receive confirmation of payment along with basic transaction details (amount, date, billing name, email, and billing address).

Stripe's privacy practices are governed by their own policy at stripe.com/privacy.

2.3 Information collected automatically

When you visit the website, our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) logs standard server-level information, including:

  • Your IP address
  • Your browser type and operating system
  • The pages you view and the time of your visit
  • The referring URL (if any)

This data is used for security, abuse prevention, and basic usage understanding. We do not currently use analytics cookies. The only cookies the website sets are those required by Stripe on the checkout page, which are necessary for processing your payment.

2.4 Information you share during a program

When you participate in a Summit to Self cohort, our group video sessions are recorded for cohort members to review later. By joining a cohort, you consent to these recordings. Recordings are stored securely and are only accessible to cohort members and Al Travaglini. Recordings are retained for the duration of your alumni community access.

Conversations in our private Telegram cohort channel are visible to all cohort members and to Al. Content you post there remains your own, but by posting it you agree it may be visible and referenceable within the cohort.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and deliver the programs and services you request
  • Process payments and send receipts
  • Coordinate cohort logistics (session schedules, calls, pre-work, Telegram invites)
  • Keep you informed about upcoming programs, cohorts, or in-person Ascents (only if you've asked to hear from us)
  • Improve our services and website
  • Comply with our legal obligations, prevent fraud, and protect the safety of participants

4. Who we share your information with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share limited information only with service providers that help us operate, and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their role. Our current providers are:

  • Stripe — payment processing (privacy policy)
  • Cloudflare — website hosting, DNS, and email routing (privacy policy)
  • Resend — transactional email delivery for payment confirmations and notifications (privacy policy)
  • Zoom — video conferencing for cohort sessions (privacy policy)
  • Telegram — private cohort channel communications (privacy policy)
  • Google (Gmail) — business email used by Al to correspond with you (privacy policy)

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm or fraud.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above. In practice:

  • Program participants: we retain your records for as long as you are part of the alumni community, and for up to seven years after your last program for accounting, legal, and tax compliance.
  • Contact form submissions: retained for up to two years unless you request deletion sooner.
  • Payment records: retained per Stripe's and our tax/legal obligations.
  • Cohort session recordings: retained for the life of the alumni community; you may request deletion of recordings in which you appear by contacting us.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect about you and how we use it
  • Access the information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time
  • Receive a copy of your information in a portable format

6.1 For California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act give you additional specific rights, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and why, the right to delete personal information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

We do not sell or share personal information. We do not use your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@altitude-academy.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (typically 45 days).

7. Minors and children's privacy

Summit to Self is designed for participants aged 13 and older. For participants under 18, registration, payment, and consent to these practices must be provided by a parent or legal guardian. We collect information about minor participants (name, contact details, and any voluntary information shared during the program) only with parental consent, and we process that information solely to deliver the program.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information directly, contact us at info@altitude-academy.com and we will promptly delete it.

For Ascents, if a participant is a minor, registration and all personal information must be provided by a parent or legal guardian.

8. How we protect your information

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure payment processing through Stripe, access controls limiting who can view your data, and encrypted storage for sensitive credentials. However, no system is perfectly secure. If we ever learn of a breach that materially affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.

9. Cookies and tracking

Our website does not use analytics cookies, advertising trackers, or social media pixels. The only cookies you may encounter are those set by Stripe on the payment page, which are strictly necessary to process your payment securely. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-respecting tool that does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites.

10. International users

Altitude Academy operates from California. If you access our services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using our services, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, legal obligations, or business practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continued use of our services after changes means you accept the updated policy.
